International Women's Day in Wigan Bourough

Celebrate International Women’s Day in a Proper Good Way

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8. It is a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

Here’s some great ways to celebrate the day in Wigan Borough, all through using social enterprises. Support a great cause, by celebrating one!

Get involved with WLM Women’s Network launch event at Fur Clemt Cafe & Food Outlet

On Saturday, March 4, at 11am-3pm, enjoy a day sharing experiences, listening to talks by inspirational women, connecting with others, and taking part in fun workshops. These include:

  • Craft – pot decorating
  • Self Defense
  • Bread Making
  • Sound baths
  • Mini treatments

Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

This event is FREE, reserve a spot here.

Watch The Woman King at Leigh Film Factory

On Friday, March 17, at 7pm, head down to the pictures and watch this historical epic inspired by true events. It follows an all female unit of warriors, and has excellent reviews.

Tickets are £7.50, grab them here.

An International Women’s Day event is being held at Leigh Spinners Mill

On Wednesday, March 8, 12.30pm-2.30pm, come down to Floor 2, Community Room at Leigh Spinners Mill. Expect to hear from some inspirational women, take part in a workshop and to collaborate on how all women in Leigh can be acknowledged, celebrated and supported.

This event is FREE, reserve a spot here.

We hope you have a proper good International Women’s Day celebration!
